Immediate 3D Designed and Printed Implant Temporization at Uncovering of an Anterior Re-Treated Implant Site
By Dr Sascha Jovanovic
This clinical video by Dr Sascha Jovanovic presents the results of a novel digital technique to capture the three dimensional position of the implant platform during the uncovering procedure and the digital crown design laboratory phase of a upper central temporary crown. This case was a challenging case that presented with a failed anterior ceramic implant that had to removed and re-treated. The failed implant site was regenerated with a staged horizontal GBR procedure and 6 months later a new implant (BLT, Straumann) was placed with a palatal soft tissue graft. After 3 months of healing and during the implant uncoevring proecduer, an intraoral digital impression (STL file) was taken using a implant scan body to confirm the implant position, both arches, the bite and the color. The temporary was custom designed in a digital design studio to represent a gentle and natural subgingival emergence and 3D printed with PMMA on a Rapid Shape/ Straumann P20 printer. The printed temporary was glazed and polished and extra-orally cemented to a 2.5 mm Ti-base. The implant temporary was delivered to the implant site within 2 hours of the uncovering procedure. The follow-up shows the optimal soft tissue healing around the temporary and the patient interviews gives the early impressions of this new and efficient temporization procedure.
