Increasing keratinized gingiva around upper implants using a strip gingival graft
Dr. Sascha A. Jovanovic
This clinical video performed by Dr Jovanovic demonstrates the process of uncovering two maxillary dental implants with minimal to no keratinized gingiva and a shallow vestibular. The soft tissue bed covering the implants are treated using the placement of a palatal strip gingival graft with an apical repositioned partial-thickness flap in order to increase keratinization and vestibular depth. Steps to harvest a strip gingival graft from the palate are demonstrated. Additionally, an immediate temporization is placed at the time of uncovering to guide and allow the soft tissues to heal into the optimal position. The video offers valuable insight into the mucogingival steps involved in enhancing the success of dental implants and improving patient outcomes.
