Index Adhesive Technique - Part 02: Increasing the VDO with a No-Prep Minimal-Invasive Adhesive Full Rehabilitation of Worn Dentition
By Dr Riccardo Ammannato
----
In this clinical video by Dr Ammannato the INDEX TECHNIQUE an adhesive treatment is described as part of a no prep adhesive full rehabilitation on worn dentition which allows in a minimal invasive technique to increase the VDO. The restorative approach selected is a new workflow, the “Index Technique”. In the video a copy & paste technique is highlighted that takes advantage of a restorative wax up based on an esthetic and functional analysis performed during the diagnostic stage. The restorative wax up is then copied through a clear silicon index and pasted on the worn dentition through a heated composite using an adhesive protocol.
Today dental problems like worn dentition are increasing and the question is: Do we need to perform a “conventional” restorative approach with full mouth rehab and 28 full crowns? Or can we go for a minimally or non-invasive approach through an additive adhesive restorative approach? The presented Patient is 22 years old suffering from gastric reflux and Sjogren's syndrome. The patient was concerned about tooth wear, esthetics and transparency of her incisors. Plus she was complaining about sensitivity and chewing difficulty. Upper and lower arches had medium to severe tooth wear. After a thorough diagnosis, an adhesive additive no prep full rehabilitation restorative treatment was performed through a direct/indirect copy paste molding approach with the “Index Technique”. This kind of new adhesive restorative approach has the following advantages: 1) a no prep approach so very conservative; 2) a biologically sustainable approach; 3) a financially sustainable approach for both clinician and patient; 4) easy, fast and predictable repair in case of failures like chipping; 5) good esthetic outcome; 5) good longevity.
